My good people of Nsukka Asadu, brothers and sisters, political leaders, clergies, traditional rulers, elites, captains of industries, entrepreneurs, University lecturers, Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers and professionals of repute,i hope this message meets you well. I crave your kind permission to add you on this noble platform even without seeking your prior consent to the NKPOKOTE NSUKKA Retreat/Dinner initiative which is aimed at achieving genuine peace and unity for Nsukka oneness. Sirs/madams, your participation in this noble initiative is a sacrifice which is heroic of a peace maker and a unifier for the overall interest of our people. My name is Barrister Ifeanyi Bartholomew Ugwoke, the convener from Enugu-Ezike, a lawyer, entrepreneur, politician and public affairs analyst based in Abuja. My dear Nsukka people, let us shield our misgivings, grievances and misconceptions towards one another in order to fight for common beneficial course realizing what prosperity holds for us and our children. I therefore speak and write on behalf of NKPOKOTE Umu-Nsukka youth group that have been crying out for peace and unity of Ndi-Nsukka in general irrespective of party affiliations. We shouldn’t allow politics to divide us any more. It’s quite glaring today that we may have no place in the social economic development and strong political presence in Enugu state until the next 16 years if nothing is being done urgently to track the impending tragedy. I believe, we as a people are very enterprising,focused, humble and above all resilient and possess all the attributes of a great nation, but that cannot be without the pursuit of a clear objective under a peaceful and united atmosphere. If I interrogate myself further; does it mean, we are lacking courage, intelligence, core value or steadfastness? It may be quite sad to believe that we are captured and are afraid to chat our own course. Consequently, NKPOKOTE youth cries out by making deep calls to commit ourselves to the deep calls of that love of brotherhood that had existed from Adamic days, a call for heart to heart conversation, peace and unity, a call for coming together to speak with one voice henceforth. It’s obvious to me that Nsukka has produced great intellectuals from different fields of human endeavours ranging from professors exhibiting their talents in the various universities in this country, captains of industries, echelons in commerce all over the world, technocrats, elected and appointed representatives of high impact value to refined high profile clergy men making waves in the country and beyond. Our great leaders, what’s really wrong with us. Why should we remain docile in the mist of these God given favours and attributes to play second fiddle if not third in hands of those we are more efficient, effective and greater than. For me it’s unacceptable. It must come to an end. Consequently, NKPOKOTE ndibanyi retreat dinner will provide us a window for a wider and robust conversations based on genuine interactions that would profer solutions to genuine reconciliation of our people and the way forward. We must be aware that we are in disarray and appears to be in political wilderness for now. We have allowed politics to becloud our sense of reasoning and deshine the Igwe bu ike spirit for which our people are known for. Finally, the NKPOKOTE retreat dinner shall be focused and anchored on fostering genuine peace and unity of Nsukka people as mentioned herein irrespective of political groups, Union or any other societal group to ensure that we recover and rescue our people from this entire shackles of divide and rule pretentious oligars who have taken advantage of the nativity, anxiety and poverty of our people over the years. I thank and truly appreciate all participants in this noble course and also wish all of us the very best in this project. God is our strength. Cheers!
